Building a business is no small feat – leaders within Dallas’ Watermark Community Church & SMU Law’s Small Business & Trademark Clinic would agree.

Under the leadership of Kandace Walter, Director of SMU Law’s Small Business & Trademark Clinic, small business owners and members of the DFW community benefited from a lively, helpful discussion, hosted by Watermark, centered on the ins and outs of navigating the legal aspects of a small business.

Watermark Community Church is home of “” program, a 10-week initiative “designed to faithfully equip & disciple business owners and accelerate the growth and success of their businesses through an array of supporting resources and services, including curriculum instruction, mentorship, leadership coaching, physical space, access to financial institutions, and community connections.

Director Kandace Walter and 3L Clinic students Page Patrick and Taylor Bell contributed to the discussion, guiding attendees on matters ranging from legal document preparation to trademarks. Rowe Stipe, also a 3L at SMU Law and member of Watermark, assisted in the collaboration between SMU Law and Watermarks’ Business Cohort Program. Carson Smith, executive director of the church, facilitated the discussion.

The Small Business & Trademark Clinic looks forward to fostering these types of new relationships by adding cohort participants as clients in the coming semesters.
