Former First Lady Laura Bush, an SMU trustee and alumna, is the author of a newly published memoir, Spoken from the Heart.
Writing with听deft humor,听disarming frankness听and a sharp eye, Mrs. Bush tells of her life - from growing up in West Texas to meeting George W. Bush, from听her experiences听in the Texas Governor's Mansion to life in the White House.
Her听memoir has been well received by reviewers and garnered her interviews by the national media, including the Oprah Winfrey Show.
Mrs. Bush,听who earned a bachelor鈥檚 degree in elementary education from SMU in 1968, gave the principal address at and she is currently a member of SMU's Board of Trustees. is scheduled to break ground this fall on the SMU Campus.
She talked about her book in SMU's McFarlin Auditorium on April 7 as part of The Dallas Museum of Art's Arts & Letters Series.
