2019 Distinguished Alumni Awards
Each year, SMU honors four outstanding leaders in philanthropy, business and civic life with the highest honor the University can bestow upon its graduates.
DALLAS (SMU) – Four philanthropic, civic and business leaders were honored at the 2019 Distinguished Alumni Awards at the Armstrong Fieldhouse in the Indoor Performance Center on the SMU campus on Thursday, November 7 at 7 p.m. The DAA Award is the highest honor the University bestows upon its graduates.
This year’s recipients included dedicated leader and dynamic volunteer Jennifer Burr Altabef ’78, ’81; civic leader and philanthropist Martin “Marty” L. Flanagan ’82, CEO of Invesco Ltd., one of the world’s leading investment management companies; businessman and civic leader Scott J. McLean ’78; and emerging leader awardee described as a tech disruptor with a mission to empower women, Whitney Wolfe Herd ’11, the founder and CEO of Bumble.
