No matter your preferences, you’ll find what you’re hungry for with SMU’s dining options.

How is the food at SMU? We’re glad you asked! Mustangs have options when it comes to campus dining. Meal plans for students – which include meal swipes and flex dollars – offer access to 16 locations including dining halls and retail spots. Our staff dietitian can provide guidance and counseling, while our dining halls also offer options to fit all dietary needs.

Umphrey Lee is a popular lunch spot on campus, as it’s located close to all the academic buildings. Scan the QR code on your table to add a song to the digital jukebox while you’re there!

Arnold Dining Hall, located close to the southeast Residential Commons, includes dishes made without the nine most common allergens – eggs, milk, peanuts, tree nuts, shellfish, soy, wheat, fish, sesame and gluten – for safe campus dining options.

Ask for a to-go box when you swipe your SMU ID if you’re in a hurry. Our staff are happy to help!

Our dining halls not only offer students healthy eating on campus but also a relaxed atmosphere to hang out with friends in between classes or after the day is done. With options for all dietary needs, you’re sure to find something that fits your lifestyle.

Mac's place

Located inside McElvaney Commons, Mac’s Place offers quick, made-to-order grill and pizza options.

This location also offers convenience store essentials for anything you need to pick up.

Popular after football games, you’ll find students enjoying the patio on nice days.

Don’t miss stopping inside Mac’s Place for fresh grill items and pizza, or just as a place to see your friends! Students love to hang out on the patio – especially when the Mustangs take home a win.

Hughes-Trigg Student Center

This centrally located spot offers some of the best places to eat on campus.

Inside the student center, you’ll find familiar favorites like Panera, Chick-fil-A and Sushic.

On the main level, you’ll find The Market, which features convenience store items as well as Revolve Kitchen, offering selections from favorite Dallas restaurants on a rotating basis.

On the basement level, The Varsity is a dining space where students can hang out or study while they grab a meal.

There’s always something to grab in Hughes-Trigg, from Chick-fil-A to sushi or a myriad of options from The Market. Use your flex dollars or, thanks to Starship Technologies, use the Grubhub app to have a robot deliver your order across campus!

Inside the Cox School of Business, you’ll find the brand Sclafani’s Bagels, where you can grab a delicious breakfast.

Pre- or post-workout, refuel with a smoothie from Shake Smart inside Dedman Center for Lifetime Sports.

Another student favorite is Starbucks Coffee, which you’ll find inside Fondren Library for powering through study hours.

Beyond our dining halls and student center, you’ll find a number of places to grab a quick bite or beverage all across campus. In addition to the favorites listed above, Dedman School of Law offers Lawyers Inn with Tex-Mex and more or La Maison Bleue for delicious tea options inspired by Japan.

What are SMU’s dining hours?

The dining halls are open 7 a.m.–8 p.m. Monday through Thursday (Arnold Dining Commons is open 7 a.m.–9 p.m.); 7 a.m.–7 p.m. Fridays; 9:30 a.m.–7 p.m. Saturdays; and 9:30 a.m.–8 p.m. Sundays during regular terms.

Are there vegan/vegetarian/gluten-free options available?

Yes! Our dining halls, Arnold and Umphrey Lee, offer a variety of options for all dietary and allergen needs. If you need additional support, and are happy to meet with you to discuss options.

How can I sign up for a meal plan?

Meal plans may be through SMU Hospitality. Different options are available based on class year and residency. You may also manage your flex dollars online.

Is there a mobile dining app?

Although we don’t have a mobile app, the mobile version of the website has all the information you need. Students may use the GrubHub app to order food from our retail locations such as Chick-Fil-A and Panera Bread for robot delivery on campus.
