Graduate Certificate in Entrepreneurship
As a graduate-level student, you’ll earn course credit and learn from SMU Cox faculty along-side graduate degree seeking students. You’ll be enrolled as a non-degree seeking student, with access to campus and SMU Cox facilities such as the library and study rooms. Courses will be placed on your official SMU transcript upon successful completion.
Credits may be applied toward a future MBA (within a Professional MBA, One-Year MBA, Online MBA, or MBA Direct) or Specialized Masters program.

At the Cox School, entrepreneurship is a fundamental concept that is taught and encouraged. Between our curriculum and our Centers and Institutes, we aim to help those students with entrepreneurial spirit.
As one of many initiatives that support entrepreneurs, the Graduate Certificate in Entrepreneurship is for those individuals with an entrepreneurial spirit or business idea who need foundational knowledge to launch and grow. As well, the certificate is for individuals working at a corporation tasked with launching new business lines, products, etc. and need knowledge for "intraprenuership."
This certificate includes the following courses:
- STRA 6201 Strategic Management
- STRA 6202 Advanced Strategic Management
- At least three additional Entrepreneurship courses (courses can be here)
The Graduate Certificate in Entrepreneurship takes place over 2 terms, lasting 9-10 months and earns 10 credit hours. With SMU Cox Edge, you can take courses online or in-person as class availability allows. The cost for academic year 2024-2025 is $21,490.
