Why Study Here?

The SMU Department of Religious Studies nurtures student perspective on the world and its diverse cultures.

The field of Religious Studies offers students opportunities to delve into the range of ways in which religion interacts with other aspects of culture around the globe. Challenging courses employ one or more of the following methodological approaches: philosophical, historical, social scientific, and literary. The requirements of both the major and minor are flexible, allowing students to tailor their programs of study to their own needs and interests.
