Anthropology. Position No. 6355. The Department of Anthropology at 91制片廠合集 invites applications for the position of Assistant Professor (tenure-track) with a focus on environmental anthropology. We seek specialists with an outstanding record of community-based and locally engaged research and scholarship. Preference will be given to those with expertise in science, technology, and society studies (STS), complex adaptive systems, dynamic human-ecological modeling, participatory research, and/or a focus on alternative environmental futures. Strong consideration will be given to anthropologists whose scholarship and teaching complement those of current faculty in environmental anthropology and environmental archaeology and bridge cognate campus programs, including Earth Sciences, History, Human Rights, International Studies, and Women’s and Gender Studies. This position supports ongoing development of the Earth Hazards and National Security research cluster at SMU (/dedman/resources/faculty-staff/recruitment/clusterhires). Successful applicants will have evidence of an ongoing research program, evidence of teaching effectiveness, and a commitment to increasing diversity and fostering inclusion in academia. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to be a significant partner in building ties between the department and an increasingly diverse and globally connected community at the university and in the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex. They will also join a fast-growing, PhD-granting department that participates actively in interdisciplinary initiatives on campus through the Dedman College Interdisciplinary Institute, which features ongoing scholarly clusters in Native American and Indigenous Studies, Asian Studies and Asian American Experiences, and Urban Research. Minimum qualifications: Completed requirements for a doctoral or other terminal degree in Anthropology or related field by August 1, 2025; expertise to teach courses in anthropology, specifically anthropological approaches to environmental issues and questions; demonstrated potential as a teacher-scholar. Preferred qualifications: Completed Ph.D.; experience teaching undergraduate or graduate courses in anthropology as well as courses in any of the following areas: environmental anthropology, political ecology, ecological anthropology and/or other aspects of modern human-environment dynamics; interest in making significant contributions to graduate education; an ambitious research agenda and scholarship which has resulted in publications in peer-reviewed journals, conference presentations, and invited talks; experience mentoring a diverse student population. Biology. Position No. 52610. The Department of Biological Sciences in Dedman College of Humanities and Sciences at 91制片廠合集 plans to fill multiple junior faculty positions in the next several years, and currently is inviting applications for a faculty position at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor depending on the applicant’s credentials. 91制片廠合集 is a nationally ranked, research intensive, non-sectarian, private university centrally located in the thriving Dallas metroplex, which boasts a rapidly expanding biotech sector. Applicants for the position must have a PhD degree, postdoctoral experience, and a record of research excellence. Preference will be given to individuals with research interests that broadly complement existing faculty research in the areas of neuroscience, immunology, cancer, cell biology or signaling, developmental biology, cytoskeletal or mitochondrial dynamics, epigenetics, biochemistry, or infectious diseases. Physics. Position No. 5768. The Department of Physics at 91制片廠合集 (SMU) invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position in theoretical physics or experimental physics. We seek candidates in areas that enhance and expand on the current research strengths of the department in particle physics, nuclear physics, cosmology, and astrophysics. Candidates must have a Ph.D. in physics, astronomy, or a closely related field and a record of research excellence. The successful candidate will develop a vigorous research program, supervise graduate and undergraduate students, and teach at both undergraduate and graduate levels. SMU faculty members are expected to teach and mentor diverse students within the physics program and throughout the university. The appointment will start in August 2025 or later. The Physics Department at SMU is an intellectually dynamic community covering a broad range of fundamental physics research. Our theoretical particle physics activities include perturbative and non-perturbative QCD, proton and hadron structure, beyond the standard model phenomenology, medium energy nuclear and heavy ion physics, and nuclear astrophysics. Our theory faculty engage in major international collaborations with CTEQ, ATLAS, and the future EIC. We have a vibrant experimental high energy physics group focused on Higgs physics and searches for new physics on ATLAS. We have a state-of-the-art lab that supports key roles in particle physics instrumentation and R&D, including readout opto-electronics for LHC experiments. Our cosmology and astrophysics program includes key theoretical and observational/experimental efforts in several international collaborations, including LSST, DESI, Simons Observatory, CMB-S4, and COMAP. We focus on the study of the cosmic expansion history, large-scale structure, and galaxy formation, which includes galaxy clusters, gravitational lensing, cosmic microwave background, line-intensity mapping, and supernova programs, in addition to detector R&D. We have strong computing support, with access to SMU’s ManeFrame III high-performance computing cluster, and one of the only two DGX SuperPODs in U.S. academia. The Department’s culture fosters collaboration across all of our areas of research. We aim to provide a collegial scientific community with equitable access and participation for all individuals and groups, and we recognize the value of this participation to the quality of our research. The successful theorist candidate would complement existing strengths of the department in particle physics, nuclear physics, cosmology and astrophysics. Statistics. Position No. 5748. The SMU Department of Statistics and Data Science invites applications for a tenure-track assistant professor position to begin in Fall 2025. We seek scholars who have outstanding qualifications in statistics and data science and a commitment to interdisciplinary research and inclusive teaching. Faculty will teach in our undergraduate and graduate programs, conduct research in statistics and data science, and collaborate, as appropriate, with colleagues in other disciplines. The Department of Statistics & Data Science has 13 permanent faculty members, of whom 8 are tenured or on the tenure track. Faculty members conduct research in bioinformatics, causal modeling, clinical trials, human mobility data, imaging, incomplete data, machine learning, nonparametrics, sports analytics, stochastic processes, survival analysis, time series, and topological data analysis. They collaborate with investigators in other departments at SMU, at the UT Southwestern Medical Center, and in other universities and government agencies.
