Ben Cooper is responsible for providing career counseling and professional development for Dedman Law’s J.D. candidates. As a director in the career services team, he has a special emphasis on connecting students with opportunities with mid-size, small and boutique law firms.

Prior to joining Dedman’s Career Services Office, Ben founded PreLawPro, a consulting firm specializing in law school admissions and career consulting. Ben also spent more than 5 years managing Baylor University’s Pre-Law Program. While at Baylor, he taught classes on the legal profession, academic success, J.D. admissions and advised students seeking careers in law, national security, and intelligence. His international legal career journey focused on commercial litigation, having practiced law in both Australia and England, prior to transitioning to the United States.

Ben attended the T.C. Beirne School of Law at the University of Queensland, graduating with a specialization in commercial law. Following the completion of his LL.B, he gained admission to the Supreme Court of Queensland, the High Court Australia, and the Supreme Court of England & Wales. Ben also holds a master’s degree from Baylor University and an advanced diploma in executive, leadership and career coaching from Kingstown College in Ireland. He is passionate about legal education and career development, serving as a member of the Forbes Education Advisory Board.
