Public Advocate Day
Public Advocate Day is a vibrant public interest career fair held at SMU Dedman Law each January. This is an exceptional event where representatives from the many public interest organizations and government agencies in our community join us and conduct table-talks with our students. Public Advocate Day provides students the opportunity to learn about the type of work performed in these organizations and how to pursue summer and school-year internships, as well as post-graduate employment opportunities.
SMU Dedman Law is strongly committed to instilling a sense of community responsibility in our students through engaging in law-related public service. Since 1996, our law students have been required to complete a minimum of 30 hours of law-related public service to graduate. We are proud to report that in the last 19 years, SMU Dedman Law students have volunteered nearly 200,000 hours in law-related efforts to assist the underserved. For more information on Public Advocate Day, please contact the Office of Public Service at 214-768-2567.
