SMU Global Strategy Committee
Purpose and Mission:
The goal and purpose of the SMU Global Strategy Committee (GSC) is to promote and support comprehensive internationalization at SMU, to identify key strategic priorities and goals for internationalization at SMU and to track progress toward those goals. As part of their work the GSC will work to identify and review key internationalization metrics at SMU and to report progress toward internationalization to the Provost and the university community. Finally, the GSC works with university stakeholders to encourage internationalization activities at the institution.
Reporting Structure:
The SMU Global Strategy Committee is located in the Office of the Provost and reports to the Provost. All recommendations of the SMU Global Strategy Committee are sent to the Provost for review and approval.
Scope:
The role of the SMU Global Strategy Committee is to promote and support comprehensive internationalization at SMU. The GSC further works to monitor, track, and report on internationalization activities at the institution. The GSC also works to identify key strategic priorities for internationalization efforts and to identify opportunities to expand and enhance internationalization opportunities across the institution. To that end, the committee is charged with:
- Ensuring that internationalization activities at SMU are strategically aligned and consistent with SMU’s mission and strategic plan.
- Ensuring that all internationalization activities at SMU have clear goals and metrics for success.
- Reviewing key performance indicators to evaluate the status of internationalization activities at the institution.
- Providing the Provost and the university community with expert guidance on best practices in internationalization.
- Working to better align internationalization activities across the institution.
- Fostering communication across units about internationalization and related opportunities.
- Creating, promoting, and sustaining comprehensive internationalization at SMU.
