The Office of General Education offers a variety of workshops specific to SMU faculty and staff members.
Below you can find more information about our commonly offered workshops.
These workshops provide an overview of the Common Curriculum and go into depth about how students can complete Foundation, Breadth, and Proficiency & Experience requirements. The end of the workshop is reserved for staff and faculty to ask additional questions.
These workshops are exclusively for new staff and advisors at SMU. They will cover the same topics as the general Common Curriculum workshops with special focus on examples and assistance for academic advisors.
A workshop for instructors and staff members to learn more about how to submit a Common Curriculum Course or Experience Proposal - what materials are needed, annual responsibilities to maintain the tag, and more.
A workshop exclusively for Department Chairs or Directors of Undergraduate Studies. We will cover Common Curriculum Foundation, Breadth, and Proficiencies & Experience requirements, how faculty can propose or remove tags, and departmental responsibilities related to general education.
