This checklist is provided to help you quickly and easily complete all required elements of your Total Orientation Process with SMU. If you have any questions, you may go back to the tutorial content to review the information. First Day of Employment:
The following were provided to you in your "Welcome to SMU" email and should be submitted to Human Resources on your first day of employment:
- Total Compensation Package (please refer to your Welcome to SMU e-mail)
- (please use your legal name as it appears on your social security card)
- (Employer provided coverage)
Directions to obtain the following will be provided at HR on your first day:
First Week of Employment:
Required:
- : complete the tutorial and submit the online evaluation form
- Employee Statement: sign and submit to Human Resources (in person or via campus mail to Box 232)
Within 31 Days of first day of employment:
Benefits: Required Participation
403(b) Retirement Savings Plan (Age 36 or older and one year of service)
Emeriti Health Savings Account (Age 40 or older mandatory pre-tax contribution, under age 40 optional post tax contribution)

- Harassment and Discrimination training: complete the tutorial
New Manager Tools
- People Soft TIMEaccess Training for those who will manage non-exempt (hourly) employees
- New Manager Orientation (completion required within first year of employment or promotion)
