Genevieve Soucek is a graduate student in the department's Cultural Anthropology PhD program. Her dissertation research examines how people living in Scotland's Outer Hebrides foster a sense of natural and cultural authenticity through place-making, environmental conservation and linguistic revitalization efforts amid environmental and economic change. Additionally, she is interested in how natural and cultural authenticity are cultivated in heritage spaces through both conservation and tourism.
