Campus Parking Permits

A current parking permit must be properly displayed at all times when on campus all year long, or a Virtual Permit with the license plate of the vehicle used must be used; otherwise, your vehicle is at risk of being in violation.

All students, even residential students not bringing a vehicle to campus, must log in to the SMU Parking Portal to either purchase or opt out of a permit to comply with the City of University Park ordinances. Failure to opt out may result in being charged the annual permit fee.

Permits are enforced Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Reserved spaces, Disabled Spaces, and Fire Lanes are enforced at all times—all year long. Parking is enforced during student breaks, including Fall Break, Spring break, and during finals. Parking is not enforced during SMU university holidays when university offices are closed.

ParkMobile pay by space spaces are available for purchase unless coned for a reservation.

All events must be scheduled with Parking Services regardless of enforcement hours.

A Special Note About Street Parking

University Park residential-only parking sticker sample

The City of University Park (UP) has established residential-only parking districts throughout the neighborhoods adjacent to the SMU campus. Street parking within established residential parking districts is restricted Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Only UP residents are allowed to park on city streets within the established residential parking districts with a displayed resident parking or guest permit issued by the city.

* Your vehicle is at risk for tow or citation if you park on residential streets or at commercial establishments in areas surrounding the SMU campus.*
