Take the edge off of finals week with these SMUST-see shows

Don’t miss these upcoming SMUST shows this weekend! SMUST (SMU Student Theatre) is a student-run organization at SMU where students are encouraged to present work to explore the realm of theatre. Regardless of major, any SMU student can perform in SMUST shows. The diverse lineup of shows both this and next weekend is the perfect opportunity for a study break from finals in the basement of Meadows.

IN THE BOOM BOOM ROOM
What: A play by David Rabe
When: December 7 at 8 p.m., December 8 at 7 p.m. and December 9 at 7 p.m.
Where: Margo Jones Theatre (Meadows School of the Arts)

In the Boom Boom Room, first performed in 1972, follows Chrissy, a high-spirited go-go dancer as she searches for sexual empowerment and identity in all the wrong places. As Chrissy looks to her loved ones for clarity and support, she must confront her darkest secrets and deepest desires. Come join Chrissy as she dances her way through the warped, psychedelic world that is the Boom Boom Room.

10 BITCHES AND A STAGE

Modeled after Chicago’s , this off-the-wall production features 30 student-written short plays in one hour.

BIRDLAND

Paul and Johnny are rock stars at the height of success, surrounded by adoring fans and prolific fortune.  But what do you do once you've got what you wanted most? Where's home when the world is at your feet? Is it possible to be human when you're treated like a god? First performed at the Royal Court Theatre in London in April of this year, Birdland is a new play by Simon Stephens that tackles the topics of love, empathy, money and fame.

Directed by Jenna Richanne Hannum (B.F.A. Theatre ’15), the cast includes Andrea Flowers (B.F.A. Theatre ’15), Parker Gray (B.F.A. Theatre ’16), Stephanie Machado (B.F.A.
