Biography

Dr. I. Papailias is Research Assistant Professor at Mechanical Engineering Department at SMU's Lyle School of Engineering. Prior to this, he was a Post-Doctoral Researcher at the University of Illinois at Chicago. He earned his PhD in Materials Science and Engineering from National Technical University of Athens, where he had also completed his MSc studies in Chemical Engineering.
He has been main contributor in conceptualizing and securing grants of $2.8 million in total budget, that cover a wide range of applications such as Li-Air Batteries, Electrocatalytic CO2 Conversion, and Photocatalytic Coatings. Moreover, he has been awarded with the prestigious Marie Sklodowska-Curie Actions (MSCA) Global Postdoctoral Fellowship in 2022.
Dr. I. Papailias has co-authored over 20 journal publications, in journals such as Applied Catalysis B: Environmental and Advanced Energy Materials, with more than 1300 citations.
