Biographical Note

Ambassador Jimmy Kolker began his career in the Foreign Service in 1977, serving in Mozambique, Zimbabwe, Sweden, and the U.K. He was Deputy Chief of Mission in Botswana from 1990 to 1994, then in Denmark from 1996 to 1999. He served as ambassador twice, first in Burkina Faso then in Uganda, after which he became the deputy director of the PEPFAR program in D.C. After that he served as head of AIDS at UNICEF, then assistant secretary for global affairs in the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.
